FINA BALP TEIXIDÓ

Chairs. Barcelona.

“Seure o no seure" is a project of works that stem from the structure of a chair and always involve a plastic and conceptual transformation. The aim is for the chair, an object of daily use, to transcend into something that serves no practical purpose but is essential for the beauty it brings.

I am interested in the act of stripping away to then clothe in a way that the new covering transforms the identity of the object. The need to recycle to revitalize what had been deteriorated drives me. I am motivated by the search for the contrast of textures and the interplay between materials of distant natures: wood, glass, fabric, plaster. The possibility of recreating chairs, each with its own unique and unrepeatable personality, fascinates me.

Myultimate intention is to reconsider the individuality of what originally was part of a collective without differences among its integrating elements: an object that gains its soul after being altered, reused, and transformed.
